Starting Monday morning, children under the age of 11 will no longer be prohibited from patient areas and waiting rooms. Meanwhile, Duke Health has also lifted visitor restrictions for surgery patients, allowing daytime visitors to include children under the age of 11. Previously, only two people over the age of 12 were allowed to visit surgery patients during the day. Both health systems implemented these restrictions to protect patients and prevent the spread of flu, RSV, and COVID-19. With the decreasing number of respiratory illnesses, they have deemed it safe to relax these rules.
