Epic Games has announced that Fortnite will be returning to tablets with iPadOS, along with its own digital store. This decision comes after the European Union’s Digital Markets Law designated iPadOS as a market access guardian and required it to open up by allowing users to remove preinstalled applications and download applications from external sources.

In response to the law, Apple will need to modify iPadOS to comply, giving users more control over their applications and enabling support for downloading apps from sources other than the App Store. Epic Games is determined to make Fortnite available on iPads as soon as possible within the European Union, following their successful return to iOS devices.

The European Commission also announced that iPads will need to comply with the Digital Markets Act. Epic Games took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce their plans to bring Fortnite and their store back to iPhones in the EU soon, followed by a release on iPads later this year within the European Union. This move shows that Epic Games is committed to providing players with more options when it comes to gaming on mobile devices.
