Allen Robinson is the dean of the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering and holds professorial positions in both the Departments of Atmospheric Science and Mechanical Engineering. In 2023, he took on the role of dean after serving as the director of Carnegie Mellon University’s campus in Kigali, Rwanda known as CMU-Africa.

Robinson’s research focuses on exploring technical and policy issues related to the impact of emissions from energy systems on air quality, climate, and public health. His work also emphasizes policy analysis and decision-making in these areas. Apart from his role at CMU-Africa, he has previously led the Environmental Protection Agency-funded Center for Air, Climate, and Energy Solutions. This center involves researchers and students from seven universities and a national laboratory.

In addition to his academic roles, Robinson has served as the president of the American Association for Aerosol Research. He brings a wealth of experience to his current position as dean, having worked in both academia and industry settings throughout his career.
