Preliminary evidence suggests no foul play was involved, and police were called to his residence in Southwest Ranches, Florida, where his body was found. Davis played college football at Illinois before embarking on a nine-year NFL career with the Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts. He left the locker room at halftime during the team’s Week 1 game, sparking controversy. Despite facing criticism for his decision to retire mid-game, Davis stood by it, stating that it was one of the best decisions he had made in his life. He had successful seasons with multiple interceptions throughout his career and ended with a total of 22 interceptions. His older brother, Vernon Davis, had a notable NFL career as a tight end with the San Francisco 49ers.
