The Flemish government is prepared to help resume industrial operations at the Van Hool site in Koningshooikt. Prime Minister Jan Jambon made this statement on the Sunday television program, The Seventh Day. A works council meeting will take place on Monday at the bus building company, which has faced challenges in the past.

Jambon recognized that there may be an uncertain future for NV Van Hool, but he emphasized that the potential closure of the company does not mean the end of industrial activity at the site. He highlighted the positive aspects of the workforce and the environment, which have attracted interest from private partners.

While the Flemish government is willing to offer support for a restart, Jambon stressed the importance of determining the legitimacy of interested parties and assessing whether they require assistance. He expressed a preference for a Flemish or European company to take over operations, rather than a Chinese investor.

Overall, Jambon’s goal is to keep industrial activity at the Van Hool site going with a focus on preserving jobs and supporting the local economy.
