DonnaJean Wilde, a 59-year-old woman from Alberta, recently achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new Guinness World Record for holding a plank position for 4 hours, 30 minutes, and 11 seconds. This impressive accomplishment surpassed the previous record-holder, Dana Glowacka from Montreal, by about 10 minutes.

Wilde’s interest in planking began about ten years ago when a broken wrist hindered her from performing her usual exercises. She discovered this activity after her family initiated challenges lasting a couple of minutes. Even with a cast on her wrist, Wilde could engage in this activity for six to eight weeks. As a mother of five and grandmother of 12, she successfully broke the record at a school in Magrath with students supporting her during parts of the attempt.

Reflecting on her accomplishment, Wilde emphasized the importance of practice in achieving one’s goals, whether it be in sports, academics, music, arts or other pursuits. She acknowledged that consistent practice not only enhances one’s skills but also makes tasks easier over time while allowing individuals to help and inspire those around them.
