TIME100 Health: Featuring Mandy Cohen of TIME RBI reported earnings of 333 million euros in Q1 Celebrating May 1 with Concrete Answers for Meloni Opening of the World’s Tallest Observatory Empowering Women in Jordan through Sports: Elevating Fitness and Personal Training Skills

In the 69th annual Fairfax County Regional Science and Engineering Fair, nine students from Fairfax County Public Schools earned top honors. A total of 400 students participated in the fair, showcasing research projects across a variety of scientific and engineering fields. These projects were evaluated by over 150 professionals and 40 organizations and businesses.

The grand-prize winners at the fair have the opportunity to compete in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in May. Other participants may qualify for the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair in April. Among the grand-prize recipients were students from the GazetteLeader coverage area who excelled in categories such as Animal and Behavioral Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Energy, Environmental Engineering, Materials Science, and Microbiology.

One standout project at the fair was by Shumvobi Mitra from Langley High School, who focused on detecting and degrading formaldehyde using synthetic biology techniques. The complete results of the 2024 Regional Science and Engineering Fair can be found at https://www.fcps.edu/sciencefair.
