Billionaire Elon Musk has compared the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO to the nuclear apocalypse scenario depicted in the 1983 movie The Day After. This comment was made in response to a statement by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who expressed support for Ukraine becoming a NATO member at a press conference in Belgium on April 4.

While Ukraine and the US have not publicly responded to Musk’s comments, there has been ongoing debate within NATO regarding Ukraine’s bid for membership. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an application to join NATO in 2022, but progress has been slow due to concerns about escalating tensions with Russia.

Musk, who owns SpaceX and has provided support to Ukraine during the conflict, has made controversial statements in the past regarding the situation in Ukraine. Despite various proposals and discussions, Ukraine’s path to NATO membership remains uncertain. While some believe that joining NATO would provide security and stability for Ukraine, others fear it could provoke further conflict with Russia. The debate continues as Ukraine navigates its relationship with both NATO and Russia.
