Last week, Eagles edge rusher Haason Reddick postponed a $1 million roster bonus until April 1 in an effort to provide the team with more time to find a trade partner. On Friday, the Eagles finalized a deal with the Jets for Reddick, acquiring a conditional third-round pick that could become a second-round pick.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the expectation is that the Jets will extend Reddick’s contract as they are taking on $14.5 million of his compensation for the 2024 season, which is the final year of his deal. The Eagles will cover the $1 million roster bonus as part of the deal.
Reddick, who is 29 years old, has been an integral part of the Eagles’ defense over the past two seasons, starting every game and recording 27 sacks and two Pro Bowl appearances during his time in Philadelphia. He has consistently recorded double-digit sacks for four consecutive seasons, showcasing his impressive performance on the field. Prior to joining the Eagles, Reddick spent four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and one season with the Carolina Panthers.
The Eagles were able to afford to trade Reddick after signing former Jets edge rusher Bryce Huff in free agency, adding depth and talent to their roster. With Reddick now a member of the Jets organization, both teams will look to benefit from this trade as they continue to build their respective teams for future success.
