Denuvo, an anti-piracy technology provider by Irdeto, unveiled its latest innovation at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) on March 18th. Dubbed “TraceMark,” the primary focus of this new technology is to deter pre-release video game leaks that have been a persistent issue in the gaming industry. TraceMark is a watermark technology that can be implemented in various systems as long as the game has it integrated into it. It is compatible with platforms such as Xbox, iOS, Windows, and Nintendo Switch and employs both invisible and visible watermarking techniques.
The blog post by Denuvo stated that TraceMark is platform-agnostic, meaning it can be used across different systems without any issues. This advancement by Denuvo aims to significantly reduce the unauthorized sharing and leaking of pre-release game content. Although there is no definite rollout date for this new technology, it is expected that game developers will have access to it in the near future. TraceMark’s implementation will greatly benefit game developers by protecting their intellectual property rights and ensuring that their content reaches their intended audience before anyone else does.
