The T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in 2024, has been generating a lot of excitement among cricket fans worldwide. There have been many discussions about the composition of Team India’s 15-member squad that will tour the USA and the West Indies. Several former Indian cricketers have shared their opinions on the matter, including former Australian T20 World Cup-winning captain Aaron Finch.

In his lineup for the tournament, Finch named Yashasvi Jaiswal as the second player after captain Rohit Sharma. However, he did not reveal his playing XI for the match. Nonetheless, there were several interesting choices made by Finch that have sparked much debate among cricket enthusiasts.

One of Finch’s most controversial picks was Virat Kohli, who currently holds the Orange Cap in IPL 2024. Despite his poor form in recent years, Kohli was included in Finch’s squad due to his impressive track record at international level. Suryakumar Yadav was also selected by Finch to play alongside Kohli in the top order. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson were chosen as wicketkeepers, while KL Rahul was excluded from the touring party despite being one of India’s most successful players recently.

Another surprise inclusion was Hardik Pandya, who has been facing criticism for his poor performances in the IPL this season. However, Finch saw potential in Pandya and included him in his squad for the tournament. Both Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh were also selected by Finch despite reports suggesting only one could be picked by the BCCI due to limited spots available for all-rounders.

Finally, Finch opted for a pace-heavy bowling attack for Team India at the T20 World Cup, selecting Avesh Khan as the fourth seamer alongside Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj. Ravindra Jadeja and left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav were also included in the squad to provide balance to India’s bowling attack.
