Blizzard Entertainment recently concluded its thirteenth annual World of Warcraft Student Art Contest, with the judges carefully selecting the top entries from a plethora of impressive submissions. The winners of this prestigious competition were announced in four categories: Environment Art, Character Art, FX, and Animation.

In the Environment Art category, Joshua Tyer from Laguna College of Art and Design took home the top prize with his piece titled “Glade of Ysera.” Fred Osborn from the College for Creative Studies and Kyle Chen from the University of Central Florida were named as runners-up for their works “Journey to Oasis” and “Forge in Darkmaul Plains,” respectively.

Moving on to the Character Art category, Ryle Sammut from Savannah College of Art and Design claimed the winning title with his creation titled “Sphynx Cat Desert Assassin.” Jonathan Nhim and Andrew Moon from DigiPen Institute of Technology were recognized as runners-up for their pieces “Heartsbane Refugee: Worshipper of Elune” and “Heebo the Hippo.”

In the FX category, Quynh Ton from Ferris State University secured the top spot with his artwork titled “Arcane Rain.” Christian Baca from Full Sail University was named as the runner-up for his piece “Moonkin, Nebula Beam.”

Lastly, in the Animation category, Theresa Chang from California College of the Arts emerged as the winner with her submission titled “Two-Hit Combo Attack.” Hee Seung Chung from the School of Visual Arts was recognized as the runner-up for his entry “Two Hit Attack.”

Each winner from these four categories will have an opportunity to participate in a 1-hour virtual mentorship session with a Senior Blizzard Artist and receive additional prizes. To view a complete list of prizes, visit our contest announcement page.
