Tammy Richardson, a family member of a patient at SGMC Health, recently recognized Shane Singletary, RN, with the prestigious DAISY Award for his exceptional nursing care. Singletary was chosen for his compassionate end-of-life care, which touched the heart of Richardson and her family.

At SGMC Health, nurses like Singletary are recognized for going above and beyond in their care. Nominations for the DAISY award are reviewed by a committee based on criteria such as compassion, teamwork, leadership, attitude, and skills. The honorees are celebrated monthly in front of their colleagues, patients, physicians, and visitors.

Each DAISY award recipient receives a certificate acknowledging their exceptional nursing care. They also receive a hand-carved sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, made by artists from the Shona Tribe in Africa. As a special touch, a beautiful floral arrangement of daisies is donated by The Flower Gallery, the local sponsor of SGMC Health’s DAISY Award.
