At SGMC Health, nurses like Singletary are recognized for going above and beyond in their care. Nominations for the DAISY award are reviewed by a committee based on criteria such as compassion, teamwork, leadership, attitude, and skills. The honorees are celebrated monthly in front of their colleagues, patients, physicians, and visitors.

They also receive a hand-carved sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, made by artists from the Shona Tribe in Africa.
