The Claremore Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday due to a threat made to a business near one of its campuses. The Claremore Police Department is currently investigating a threat made to Baker Hughes, a drilling company located across the street from the school campuses. A representative from Baker Hughes stated that they received a bomb threat at their Claremore facility early in the morning. Law enforcement was notified immediately and is currently sweeping the area.
As a precautionary measure, employees were sent home to ensure their safety. Despite the closure, school buses will still run and pick up children at their designated stops. Students will be transported to the Claremore Enrollment Center at 101 W. 11th Street, where parents can pick them up. Identification will be required for the pickup procedures.
The safety of students and staff is the school district’s top priority, and they are working closely with local law enforcement to ensure a swift and safe resolution to the incident. The Claremore School District decided to cancel classes at all sites for May 7 out of an abundance of caution, even though the threat was not directed at the school.
