A photographer in America captured a stunning image of streaks in the night sky above Arizona, created by part of the Falcon 9 rocket falling back to Earth. This photograph serves as a reminder of SpaceX’s busy rocket launch schedule, as the company launched two Falcon 9 rockets within hours of each other on March 30th.

On that day, the first rocket launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida carrying a telecommunications satellite. Just hours later, another rocket carrying Starlink satellites took off from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Center. After releasing its payload, the second stage of the rocket separated from the booster stage and fell back to Earth, burning up in the planet’s atmosphere.

Photographer Jeremy Perez was able to capture this dramatic moment on camera, resulting in a striking photograph of the burning second stage flying overhead. Despite initially attempting to capture the first rocket’s reentry process, Perez was hindered by thick clouds and was unable to do so successfully. However, he was able to capture this second chance with ease.

As more SpaceX rockets continue to launch into space at an alarming rate, there is an increasing likelihood of witnessing orbital material or other phenomena caused by falling rockets. These phenomena can include light vortices created by rocket fuel freezing from the booster stage or bright streaks in the atmosphere reminiscent of an aurora borealis. In some cases, Falcon 9 rockets can even be visible kilometers away!
