Many primary care physicians and OB/GYNs do not receive the training or support needed to counsel patients and help them navigate through this challenging phase of life. However, menopause treatment and knowledge are crucial components of healthy aging, and there are healthcare professionals who specialize in this area to help educate both healthcare professionals and patients.

Liz Seegert, AHCJ’s Health Beat Leader for Aging, is one such healthcare professional who is dedicated to busting myths and providing guidance on how to approach menopause reporting with sensitivity. As a certified menopause specialist and journalist who frequently reports on this topic, Seegert aims to educate both healthcare professionals and patients by sharing the most useful research and highlighting where information gaps exist.
