On Monday, we embarked on a brief drive that led us to two promising drill targets. The standout candidate, known as “Aberlady,” displayed striking similarities in color, structure, and texture to the Sol 2365 target “Longannet.” This likeness gave our science team the confidence to consider Aberlady as a prime location for our first drilling efforts in the clay-rich unit.

To further evaluate Aberlady’s suitability for drilling, the science team decided to conduct a series of observations today. These assessments focused on examining its structure, texture, and chemical composition using instruments such as APXS and ChemCam, along with detailed images captured by MAHLI. The data gathered from these observations will play a crucial role in determining whether Aberlady is the ideal site for drilling.

The anticipation of what Aberlady may reveal is high, and we will provide updates on our findings as soon as the results of these observations become available. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting discovery.
