Lexington recently hosted its first-ever Kentucky LGBTQ+ Health and Wellness Fair, organized by Shannon Ashley in response to the need for accessible health resources and information for members of the community. The event attracted over 40 vendors, offering a diverse array of services and resources related to health and wellness.

In addition to health-focused vendors, organizations such as Camp Beacon, the Lexington Pride Center, and Trans Parent Lex were present to provide attendees with information on various aspects of LGBTQ+ health and wellness. One of the most popular attractions at the fair was the availability of free rapid HIV tests for attendees, along with tables set up with preventative resources and information to promote healthy living within the LGBTQ+ community.

Glenn Means, a member of the event’s committee, emphasized the importance of events like these in providing LGBTQ+ individuals with access to healthcare services and resources. The success of this year’s fair has led to discussions about hosting another event next year in order to continue supporting the health and wellness needs of Kentucky’s LGBTQ+ community.
