President Zelensky of Ukraine recently called for more anti-aircraft defense systems from allies after Russia launched 34 missiles that caused serious damage to the country’s energy system. The Ukrainian military was able to shoot down only 21 of the missiles. Zelensky emphasized the need for political decisions and agreements to intercept all missiles and drones fired by Russian forces. He thanked the EU and other partners for their assistance, calling for air defense systems and quality weapons to ensure actions on the front lines.

The United States announced the release of $6 billion in military aid to Ukraine in order to increase access to Patriot missiles and drones, which will help Ukraine respond to Russian advances on the Eastern Front. Spain also announced the shipment of Patriot anti-aircraft missiles in a virtual meeting with over fifty countries. The difficult operational and strategic situation was discussed with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and allies in the Ramstein format, as revealed in a Telegram message. Despite these challenges, Zelensky remains hopeful that with continued support and rapid action, Ukraine can achieve its goals in the conflict.
