In the upcoming NFL season, the Cowboys are considering bringing back free agent running back Ezekiel Elliott. This development is not surprising given that the Cowboys need a veteran running back after letting Tony Pollard go in free agency. On the other hand, Elliott is searching for a new job in the NFL.

While Elliott may be interested in returning to the Cowboys, it is likely that they will still look to draft a running back to serve as their starter. Currently, the team has Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, Malik Davis, and Snoop Conner on their roster at the running back position. However, Elliott’s previous experience with the team and his impressive performance may make him an attractive option for them to consider.

Despite a down year in 2021, Elliott still managed to lead the Cowboys in rushing yards and receptions. While his numbers were significantly lower compared to previous seasons, he did see an increase in production during the final six weeks of the season when given a larger workload due to injuries on the team. Nevertheless, his performance in the last season may have raised concerns among fans and critics alike.

Elliott was a top draft pick for the Cowboys in 2016 and has achieved Pro Bowl honors three times during his career. While his performance in 2021 may have raised questions about his future with the team, it appears that both parties are interested in joining forces once again for the upcoming NFL season if possible.

In conclusion, while there is interest from both sides in reuniting with each other this upcoming season, it remains to be seen whether or not Ezekiel Elliott will be able to find a place on Dallas’ roster as their starting running back or if they will opt for someone else instead.
