On Saturdays, high school students from West Liberty-Salem High School wake up as early as 3:30-4:00 am to compete in science tests with devices they have created. The Science Olympiads is a prime example of this dedication, with members competing for up to 6 hours in a single day. Despite only 3 members being pictured due to the others leaving early for a musical performance, the team still managed to come in 4th place overall in their weekend competition.
This marks the second year in a row that the team has qualified for the state competition, showcasing their consistent success in the field. Individually, team members excelled in various events, with several placing in the top three in categories like Air Trajectory, Astronomy, and Codebusters. Other achievements include placing in Detector Building, Disease Detectives, Ecology, Flight, Forensics, Fossils, Scrambler, and Write It.
The hard work and dedication of the West Liberty-Salem Science Olympiads have truly paid off, earning them recognition and success in their competitions. Congratulations to the team for their impressive performances and for qualifying for the state competition once again.
