The Allen Parish Community Health Fair at the Grand Church in Kinder was a fun-filled event that focused on health and wellness. With more than 30 informational booths, attendees had the opportunity to learn about various aspects of healthy living, including wellness programs and healthcare services.

During the fair, Gerald Romero from Kinder received vaccination information from Ashlyn Fontonet and Brianna England, who were dressed in ’80s-themed attire to match the theme of the event. Attendees also had the chance to try traditional Coushatta dishes like chawahka (corn soup) served by Chairman Jonathan Cernek of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana.

Phlebotomist Devan Fruge of Allen Parish Community Healthcare conducted bloodwork to screen Phyllis Lawrence from Kinder for diabetes and prediabetes during the event. Amber Ashworth, Southwest Louisiana Regional Safety Coalition Coordinator, provided tips for safe driving to Brenda Johnson from Kinder. More than 30 vendors were present at the fair, offering information, health screenings, promotional items, and more.

Overall, the Allen Parish Community Health Fair was a great opportunity for attendees to learn about their health and wellness options while enjoying an ’80s-themed atmosphere with plenty of food trucks and freebies available.
