A church and healthcare organization in Charlotte, North Carolina are putting a new twist on traditional Easter celebrations. Instead of just attending church and hunting for eggs, participants at the event got to enjoy a block party hosted by WellCare in partnership with Purpose Driven Church.

The block party included activities like bounce houses, collecting eggs, and indulging in waffles and food truck items. But the main focus of the event was to provide education about Medicaid to residents. WellCare senior communications representative, Alisha Martin, highlighted the importance of spreading awareness about Medicaid expansion in North Carolina and the added benefits that WellCare can offer.

Martin emphasized the significance of providing families with knowledge about the resources available through Medicaid. By reaching out to the community, especially low-income families, they are able to create a safety net and help stretch their dollars by eliminating the need to spend on insurance. Despite being held on a holiday like Easter, Martin expressed her dedication to serving the community and educating them about valuable resources like Medicaid that are now accessible to them. The event served as an opportunity to make a positive impact on families and provide essential information that can benefit their overall well-being.
