In an effort to identify the perpetrator(s) responsible for vandalizing a sports complex, causing over $100,000 in damages, the Sumter Police Department is actively seeking information. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest in this case.

The vandalism occurred after the complex closed at 8 p.m. on Sunday and was discovered the following morning at Patriot Park. The damage included graffiti made with black paint taken from the park’s storage area, as well as equipment, electronics, heating and air conditioning units, computers, camera/security systems, concession stand supplies and restrooms affected by the vandalism.

Officials at Sumter County Government expressed disappointment in the destruction of facilities at Patriot Park, which hosts numerous sporting events and draws around 350,000 people annually. They pledged to repair and clean up the damage and showed support for law enforcement’s efforts to find those responsible for the vandalism.
