UVA Health’s “Week of Giving” saw tremendous success with the 2024 Cares for Kids Radiothon, which raised $82,091 through five local radio stations. The event was a first live phone bank since the COVID-19 pandemic and featured inspiring stories from families of UVA patients, child life specialists, and hospital leaders. This year’s Week of Giving raised a total of $110,734.

Erin Chandler, UVA Health’s associate director of development for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and corporate philanthropy, highlighted the impact of the radiothon and Week of Giving. She expressed her gratitude to families, friends, and surrounding communities who came together to support the smallest patients at UVA Health.

The funds raised by the Cares for Kids Radiothon will be used to support various initiatives at UVA Health. These include expanding neonatal intensive care unit and pediatric intensive care unit capacity, providing family-centered care to assist families with unexpected expenses during their child’s hospital stay, launching the UVA Health Children’s Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Care clinic in Albemarle County later this year in partnership with Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, supporting UVA Health Children’s pediatric cardiology program and pediatric cancer program.
