In a recent hearing with lawmakers, a senior Biden administration official announced that India has agreed to reduce tariffs on several US products, opening up their market to benefit American farmers. This news comes after India resolved multiple disputes with the World Trade Organization (WTO) last year, resulting in improved access for products like turkey, duck, blueberries, and cranberries.

The positive impact of these changes has been felt by farmers from various states across the US. US Trade Representative Katherine Tai highlighted the positive developments in trade relations between the two countries during a recent speech, emphasizing the steps India has taken to remove retaliatory tariffs on American products.

In June 2021, India and the US terminated six WTO disputes, leading to improved market access for items like chickpeas, lentils, almonds, walnuts, and apples. These changes have benefited farmers in states like Michigan, Oregon, and Washington.
