The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued an alert regarding a recall of over 450,000 compact SUVs and pickup trucks in the United States. Ford is recalling Ford Bronco Sport SUVs made between 2021 to 2024 and Ford Maverick pickups made between 2022 to 2023 due to a potential battery issue that could result in a loss of drive power.

Ford has discovered that an undetected low battery charge could lead to a loss of electrical accessories like hazard lights or drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. In response, Ford has committed to taking proactive measures to address the issue promptly and effectively. The company expressed its commitment to customer safety and satisfaction, stating that safety is a top priority.

Owners affected by the recall can visit a Ford dealership to have the problem fixed for free by recalibrating the body control module and power train control modules. Ford plans to mail notification letters to owners by May 13 and can be contacted at 1-866-436-7332. The recall number is 24S24.
