The Eurocentre logistics site in Toulouse, France, was blocked on Monday, April 8th due to demonstrations held by employees of Brico Privé. These workers were seeking to be heard following a Potential Employment Safeguard Plan (PES) launched in January by ITM Équipement de la Maison, a subsidiary of the Les Mousquetaires group. This subsidiary includes Bricomarché, Brico Cash, and Bricorama.

During a CSE meeting on April 3rd, David Collas, the general director of ITM Équipement de la Maison attempted to address the tension and concerns among the 174 employees in Toulouse. However, despite management’s efforts to propose improved measures, the employees remain dissatisfied with the offers from management. Although these offers have been increased, they are still below the expectations of the staff members.

Karoline Vitrant, a staff delegate and CSE representative, highlighted the discrepancies between the proposed measures and the group’s significant turnover and growth. Negotiations are ongoing between management and employees, but while an agreement has been reached on certain aspects such as working hours and vacation time, reclassification and compensation packages remain contentious issues.

Despite efforts to maintain a respectful dialogue between management and employees tensions persist as uncertainty looms over potential takeover by an investment fund. The pressure remains high as employees continue to fight for fair treatment during this transitional period. Negotiations are scheduled to continue until May 6th as both sides seek resolution to this labor dispute.
