A group of senators from both parties have written to Senate leaders urging them to impose restrictions on the use of facial recognition technology by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) during the upcoming reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration. The senators are concerned about privacy and civil liberties, as well as the accuracy of identity verification without causing delays at security checkpoints. Passengers can opt out of the system, but TSA claims that photos and IDs are deleted once a passenger has gone through the checkpoint.
