On April 17th from 7 to 8:30 p.m., the Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth (CRCHY) is hosting a free screening of the documentary film “Screenagers – Next Chapter: Addressing Youth Mental Health in the Digital Age” as part of their “Raising Great Kids” series. The event will take place at Newtown Middle School in Newtown, PA.

The film explores the emotional challenges faced by teens in today’s digital age and delves into the impact of social media on mental health. It also examines ways in which schools and families can help teens develop essential skills to cope with stress, anxiety, and depression.

Filmmaker Dr. Delaney Ruston shares her personal journey as she tries to understand her own teen’s emotional struggles and explores effective ways to support mental wellness. The documentary features real-life stories from families, insights from experts, and evidence-based strategies to empower teens.

The special screening will be introduced by CRCHY President Francine E. Block and will be followed by a live Q&A session with licensed psychologist Dr. Deborah Van Aken, Ph.D., and a representative from the school district. The event is free and open to the public, with pre-registration suggested to ensure enough resources are available for attendees.

CRCHY’s mission is to bring together community members to work towards reducing risk behaviors in youth and creating a healthy environment that supports their full potential. Sponsors for the event include PAStart, Council Rock Education Foundation, CPA, and Jefferson Health
