On Friday morning, a 27-year-old man was shot in the parking lot of the Eastgate Town Center. The incident occurred at around 10:00 am when the victim was walking towards a business. According to Victor Miller with Chattanooga Police, a suspect or suspects began shooting at the person, who was then transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

We spoke to several people who were inside nearby businesses during the shooting. Sheena Crow, office manager at Molly Maid across the parking lot from where the shooting happened, told us she heard two gunshots and saw all the commotion outside. “I was in my office and heard some pop, pop, pop but it didn’t occur to me what it might be. Then I heard the firetrucks and ambulances so I went outside and saw all the commotion,” she said.

Another person we spoke to was inside Tennessee Community Counseling Services and DUI school at the time of the shooting. They told us they heard two gunshots and that the victim came inside the building before being transported to the hospital.

The shooting raises concerns for those living and working in the area, with many calling for increased security measures to be put in place. “It’s very concerning,” said Sheena Crow, “we try to keep our doors locked at all times now.”
