On Friday night, a military base in central Iraq was bombed, killing one person and injuring eight others. The Kalsu base, located on the outskirts of Babel city, about 80 kilometers south of Baghdad, was targeted by explosions in warehouses housing equipment. Popular Multitude fighters, Iraqi soldiers, and police were among the victims of the attack.

The bombing took place amidst an explosive regional context fueled by the ongoing war in Gaza involving Israel and Hamas. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The United States has denied conducting airstrikes in Iraq that day, while Israel also denies involvement in the explosions in Iraq on Friday night.

The situation remains tense with uncertainties surrounding the attack on the military base. Sources from the Army and Ministry of Interior have not been able to provide information on who was responsible for the action or whether it was a drone attack. The search for the wounded is ongoing as fires continue to burn in some sectors following the explosions.
