UBS has recently strengthened its technology team in the US by hiring two senior dealmakers. The move comes as the Swiss bank aims to expand its coverage of the sector and improve its rankings in the region.

Kevin Cullinane, who previously worked at Barclays, has joined UBS as a managing director within the technology, media, and telecommunications team. He will be based in New York and report to Laurence Braham, the global co-head of technology. Meanwhile, William Burns has also been hired by UBS as a managing director in TMT. He will be based in San Francisco and report to Neil Meyer, the global co-head of media and telecoms.

UBS has been actively growing its dealmaking team, particularly in technology, following its acquisition of Credit Suisse last year. The bank has seen a 60% increase in headcount in the US as it aims to break into the top six investment banks in the region. However, some key departures have occurred from UBS including Ryan Lund, the global head of technology banking who is set to join Houlihan Lokey and John Jansen, the head of technology M&A who recently announced his departure from UBS.

In Europe, Orazio Tarda, the former global co-head of fintech investment banking at Credit Suisse who moved to UBS recently announced his departure to Nomura where he will lead its technology
