On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump sent a letter to GOP vendors reminding them not to use his name and likeness for fundraising purposes without his consent. Trump is demanding that campaigns sending him money raised in this way send him a 5% cut of the total funds. Additionally, Trump’s team is urging campaigns not to impersonate him or suggest that donors are disloyal to him if they do not donate. The letter warns that any vendor whose clients ignore these guidelines will be held responsible for their actions, with repeated violations resulting in a suspension of business relationships with the Trump National Committee JFC. This crackdown may be an attempt by Trump to make up for lost ground in fundraising, as he has been trailing behind President Joe Biden in this area.
