Recently, CanadaCasino conducted a study on the most popular mountains in the world by analyzing Instagram and TikTok hashtag data. The research began with a seed list of the most famous mountains in the world based on online articles. They then calculated the number of hashtag mentions on each platform to determine the most popular mountains.

The results of the study showed that Mount Fuji in Japan emerged as the most popular and picturesque mountain in the world, with almost 3.2 million hashtags across social media platforms. Following closely behind Mount Fuji is Mount Rainier in Washington, which took the second spot with over 1.3 million social media mentions. Table Mountain in South Africa claimed the third spot on the list with 1.3 million mentions.

The Matterhorn in Italy and Switzerland and Denali in Alaska rounded out the top five with over 1 million mentions each. Fitz Roy in Argentina and Chile was ranked number six, followed by Eiger in Switzerland. Further down the list, Cotopaxi in Ecuador claimed the eighth spot, with Half Dome in California’s Yosemite National Park and Uluru in Australia rounding out the top 10. And yes, even Everest made it onto this list, coming in at number 13!
