San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is heading into the final year of his contract for the 2024 NFL season and is feeling frustrated that a new deal has not been agreed upon with the team yet. In an appearance on the Nightcap podcast with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson, Aiyuk expressed his belief that the contract talks with the 49ers have not matched the value he believes he brings to the team.

The situation is further complicated by Aiyuk’s teammate Deebo Samuel, who will be earning $23.85 million in the next season. With the need to address a multi-year extension for quarterback Brock Purdy, who will become a free agent after the 2025 season, the 49ers are facing salary cap challenges. Despite currently being projected to be $23.9 million over the cap in 2025, general manager John Lynch is determined to work out a deal with Aiyuk and maintain a competitive roster.

Aiyuk stated, “I’m trying to get what I deserve. I feel like this season, playing football, I figured out who I was as a person and a player, what I bring to the table, the locker room, and the organization. It’s about recognizing the value I hold when I walk into that building.” Last season, Aiyuk led the 49ers with 75 receptions for a career-high 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 17.9 yards per catch, and is set to make $14.124 million for the upcoming season.
