With the pandemic under control, only two states in the United States are experiencing an increase in coronavirus infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. On the other hand, 29 states and territories have seen a decline or likely decline in cases. The remaining 19 areas have uncertain infection rates. Despite this progress, health experts continue to emphasize the importance of getting vaccinated and practicing good hygiene habits to prevent respiratory viruses, including Covid-19.

Covering your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, regularly washing your hands with soap and water or using hand sanitizer, and frequently cleaning commonly touched surfaces such as doorknobs, railings, desks, and countertops can help prevent infection. However, despite widespread presence of Covid-19 over the past few years, there are still individuals who have not contracted the virus. These individuals are known as “super-dodgers” or “novids,” accounting for nearly 1 in 4 U.S. adults and older teens by late 2022.
