The Ukrainian army has been accused of shelling a village in the southern region of Cherson, resulting in the death of 22 people. According to Russian-appointed head of the region’s administration, Wladimir Balancesaid, the incident occurred in the town of Sadowe. Photos were attached to a post on Telegram but did not provide a clear impression of what happened. There was no independent confirmation of the incident. If these figures are accurate, it would be one of the deadliest attacks by the Ukrainian army on its own territory under foreign rule during more than two years of Russian war aggression.

Sadowe is situated on the southern shore of the River Dnipro just before it meets the Black Sea. It is within possible range of Ukrainian-controlled artillery or missiles from the northern bank of the Dnipro. Despite this, there have been no reports of firefights in the area. Balancesaid claimed that Western Himars multiple rocket launchers were used to shell Sadowe and also said that Ukrainian soldiers fired at it again after people rushed to help following an initial attack. Rescue workers have reported similar incidents where Russian forces target military targets while rescue efforts are underway.

In Luhansk, an occupied eastern Ukrainian city, a residential building was targeted on Friday and resulted in four deaths and about 40 injuries. While Ukrainian authorities confirmed the attack, they stated that it was aimed at military targets but possible civilian casualties were attributed to Russian air defenses’ use.
