As technology advances, the capabilities of chatbots continue to amaze us. These AI-powered tools can handle a wide range of queries on any topic with impressive ease. However, as with any new technology, there are limitations and potential risks that must be considered.

One example of this is the conversations shared by Meta data scientist Colin Fraser with Microsoft’s Copilot chatbot, where inappropriate responses were given. Similarly, OpenAI’s ChatGPT has also been involved in confusing situations such as responding in ‘Spanglish’ without apparent meaning.

The director of Artificial Intelligence at Stefanini Latam, Giovanni Geraldo Gomes, identified key reasons for the inappropriate behavior of chatbots, including limitations in understanding and judgment compared to humans. From a business perspective, inappropriate responses from chatbots can damage a company’s reputation and lead to legal consequences. Companies are working on improving algorithms and programming to ensure more coherent responses and using filters to avoid inappropriate content.

Psychologically speaking, attributing human characteristics to chatbots can be dangerous for individuals with fragile mental health. It is important to remember that chatbots are tools designed solely for providing information and data without expressing opinions or creating emotional ties. By focusing on their original function and avoiding unnecessary humanization, we can ensure that chatbots remain effective and useful tools for businesses and individuals alike.
