The Houston Texans recently acquired former Buffalo Bills star Stefon Diggs through a trade, giving quarterback C.J. Stroud a new weapon to work with. In exchange for joining the Texans, Diggs will become a free agent in 2025 as part of a restructured contract. This revised deal includes a guaranteed $22.52 million for 2024, a voided extension from his time in Buffalo, and various bonuses that could total up to $255,000. His 2024 cap hit will be $5.876 million.

Diggs’ lack of long-term commitment to Houston means that he is highly motivated to perform well in order to secure a new contract and potentially play for a new team in 2025. If both parties are interested, an extension could be negotiated before the 2024 season ends. Looking ahead to potential suitors for Diggs in 2025, there are already teams being speculated about as potential contenders for the star wide receiver.
