Dr. Peter Hotez will be discussing his new book, “The Deadly Rise of Anti-Science: A Scientist’s Warning,” on this edition of Your Call. Over the past two decades, he has been targeted by anti-vaccine activists who have gained power and influence through well-funded and aggressive organizations. This movement has been supported by far-right extremists within the Republican Party and amplified by conservative media, leading to thousands of American deaths.

As a professor of pediatrics, molecular virology and microbiology, as well as the founding dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Hotez is dedicated to vaccine development and preventing future pandemics. He expresses concern for the future of scientific institutions and the need to rebuild trust in science and scientists.

Dr. Hotez’s previous books, “Preventing the Next Pandemic: Vaccine Diplomacy in a Time of Anti-Science” and “Vaccines Did Not Cause Rachel’s Autism: My Journey as a Vaccine Scientist, Pediatrician, and Autism Dad,” highlight his expertise in the field of vaccination.
