On Wednesday, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, visited the company’s factory near Berlin. The visit came after the factory’s power supply was sabotaged last week, causing production to halt for several days due to arson on a nearby high-voltage pylon. The attack was claimed by a German far-left group known as Volcano Group.
Musk arrived in Berlin on his private jet and addressed the employees at the factory. He carried his son on his shoulders and received applause from the staff. Musk stated that he was there to support the employees and reiterated how important it is for them to continue producing electric vehicles that help protect the environment.
The Volcano Group has been protesting against plans to expand the Tesla factory near Berlin, citing concerns about biodiversity, water availability, and potential deforestation. Despite opposition from 60% of local residents in a non-binding referendum, Musk intends to expand the factory by 170 hectares to double production to 1 million electric cars per year. The factory currently covers 300 hectares and employs 12,000 people.
