In an effort to welcome new and returning students, Southern Illinois University Carbondale and the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce are joining forces to host a unique event during Saluki Startup. Taste of Carbondale, scheduled for August 14 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at SIU’s Student Services Building pavilion, will give Salukis and their families the chance to sample mouth-watering dishes and beverages from local businesses.

The focus of Taste of Carbondale is on food and beverage establishments, but all types of local businesses are encouraged to become sponsors. Sponsors will have the opportunity to connect with attendees at the event and showcase their products or services.

Taste of Carbondale is an extension of orientation and engagement opportunities for new Salukis, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the campus, make new friends, and experience more of SIU before classes begin. Sponsorship packages start at $500 and will help cover the costs of providing food samples. Sponsors will also have their company logos featured on the Taste of Carbondale website and may have additional promotional opportunities.

If you’re a business interested in becoming a sponsor for Taste of Carbondale, contact William Lo at the Chamber of Commerce by May 31. You can reach him at 618-549-2146 or wlo@carbondalechamber.com to learn more about how you can participate in this exciting event.
