Armand Duplantis of Sweden broke another world record in pole vaulting at the season’s first Diamond League meeting in Xiamen, China. At 24 years old, Duplantis has shown exceptional ease in pushing the limits of his sport, clearing every vault on his first attempt, even beating his own record. He cleared the bar at 6.24 meters, making him the first person ever to achieve such a feat. The accomplishment further solidified his dominance, as he cleared the bar 40 centimeters higher than his competitors on the night.

On the other hand, Christian Coleman of the USA won the men’s 100 meters race with a time of 10.13 seconds, finishing just ahead of his compatriot Fred Kerley and Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake. In a tightly contested women’s 200 meters event, 19-year-old Torrie Lewis surprised everyone by taking her first Diamond League victory, beating out favorites like Sha’Carri Richardson of the USA and a late-charging Australian competitor.

Duplantis has set a total of eight world records in the discipline and expressed that he has not yet reached his full potential. He aims to reach marks of 6.30 meters or higher and dominate in every competition he enters before heading to Paris Olympic Games next year.
