Abortion rights activists gathered outside the Supreme Court in Washington, DC to advocate for legal access to the procedure. Despite state-level bans and restrictions, a majority of women in these states still support legal access to abortion. A survey conducted by KFF found that 67% of women in states with gestational limits on abortion believe abortion should be legal all or most of the time. Even in states where abortion is banned outright, two-thirds of women oppose a national ban on the abortion pill, mifepristone.

In Florida, voters will decide whether to establish abortion as a constitutional right and override existing 15-week bans through a constitutional amendment in November. The recent decision by the Florida Supreme Court to uphold this ban has led to potential restrictions on access to the procedure in the state. The ongoing debate surrounding reproductive freedom highlights the need for continued advocacy and research on this important issue.

The findings from this survey reflect a consistent trend of public support for reproductive freedom, even in states with restrictive laws. As activists continue their fight for legal access to abortion, it is important to recognize that public opinion can play a significant role in shaping policy decisions around reproductive health and rights.
