North Carolina’s legalization of sports gambling has been met with enthusiasm by its residents, who have actively participated in the activity since its launch. In the first three weeks alone, a reported $659,308,541 was wagered on sports events. This data was released by the N.C. State Lottery Commission in a report detailing promotional and paid revenue from bets made between March 11 and March 31.

From these wagers, North Carolinians were able to win a total of $590,750,303. The gross wagering revenue for March alone was $66,496,213, which is subject to an 18% tax as mandated by state law. This tax is applied to the total revenue generated by sports wagering activities.
