Charles Dalton, a talented polymer science student at the University of Southern Mississippi, has recently been awarded the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship for the year 2024. This recognition has elevated Southern Miss to a total of 28 recipients, making them a state leader in this scholarship.

Originally from Mandeville, Louisiana, Dalton is also a member of the Southern Miss Honors College. In the summer of 2023, he pursued research on the promotion of catalytic degradation of chemical warfare agents at Northwestern University in Chicago. This experience laid the foundation for his ongoing work in the Clemons Lab during the current school year.

Dalton’s dedication to research and scholarly pursuits has not gone unnoticed, and this scholarship is a testament to his hard work and commitment to advancing the field of polymer science. His achievements are a source of pride for the University of Southern Mississippi and the broader academic community.
