In an effort to address the key issues identified in the 2022 State Health Assessment, the Department of Health and Human Services and the University of Nevada Reno have collaborated to develop a healthcare improvement plan. While Washoe County has shown positive health statistics, there is still work to be done to improve the overall healthcare system.

The Silver State Health Improvement Plan outlines concerns such as opioid overdose, teenage and young adult mental health, and obesity. To ensure that locals receive the necessary assistance, the plan proposes changes that include enhanced food security, health literacy, and air quality.

The plan aims to improve the overall health and well-being of the community by identifying crucial healthcare challenges and proposing solutions. By implementing these recommendations, Washoe County can continue to thrive in terms of its health statistics while addressing any remaining issues that may arise.
