Shakira made her debut at Coachella, performing alongside Argentine DJ and hitmaker Bizarrap at the Sahara Tent. To introduce herself, she let out a powerful howl, before launching into two collaborations with Bizarrap: “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” from her latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, and the club-friendly banger “La Fuerte.” The crowd went wild, waving both Argentine and Mexican flags to welcome Shakira to the desert.

During her performance, Shakira announced that she would be embarking on a world tour to promote Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, starting in November. While she mentioned starting in “this city,” it was unclear whether she was referring to the City of Indio where Coachella takes place.

Bizarrap’s set was filled with house music and had the crowd raving as he performed songs from his viral Music Sessions series featuring talented MCs from Latin America, including Quevedo, Rauw Alejandro, Villano Antillano, and Young Miko. He also played Mexican corridos from his Natanael Cano session and “Entre Las 20,” along with an electric collaboration with Peso Pluma, who was set to perform later that night.

Shakira’s Coachella debut came after a report that she was pushed to headline the festival, but Coachella ultimately passed on the opportunity. In March, she performed for over 40,000 people in Times Square
