In celebration of National Poetry Month, the University Libraries Centennial Science & Engineering Library (CSEL) is hosting its annual Science Haiku Contest. All members of the UNM community are invited to participate in this creative and scientifically-inspired event.

To enter, participants must submit original haikus that focus on themes relevant to science and engineering. Entries can be submitted in person at the Centennial Science & Engineering Library or online at goto.unm.edu/csel-haiku-24. The contest deadline is midnight on Sunday, April 21st, and participants are encouraged to submit multiple haikus to increase their chances of winning.

Judging criteria will prioritize creativity, correct haiku form, and the incorporation of scientifically accurate themes. A panel of esteemed faculty members will choose the winning haiku, which will be announced to the winner via email. The grand prize includes a STEM-themed magnetic poetry kit, promoting further creativity and scientific exploration.

Selected entries will be showcased on the UNM Libraries’ social media platforms throughout National Poetry Month. For additional information and submission details, visit goto.unm.edu/csel-haiku-24.
